A new year.
I think maybe the problem with resolutions are the length of time you are given, a year, and the things that most people wish for take the span of a lifetime, or its something eternal.
I’m not much for resolutions. I have hopes and ambitions, but usually when I write down things I want to do, the opposite happens and it never gets done.
“I’m going to switch to that shopping lane because it’s shorter”
-They can’t find a barcode for the person in front of you.
“The answer to this question is definitely C. Without a doubt…..Well…Maybe it’s B” five minutes later “I’ll put B”
-You get the test back and it was C.
“Please don’t pick me to perform my speech first. Please no. Out of 30 people.”
-“Why sure Professor, I can go first”
Do you get my drift here? This is this effect I have on things. So resolutions seem to do no good. But, this year is all about taking chances. So…..
-I cut my hair yesterday. That’s a chance. And I love it.
-I jumped off a cliff this summer. That’s a chance. And I loved it.
-I randomly left school to take an internship in NYC. That’s a chance. And it was the best job ever.
So. Why not. Take a Chance.
A list of hopes and dreams that might be possible to achieve within a year.
2009 Years Resolutions.
-Go to a party/Social Gathering
-Read a book during school that’s not for school
-See Alphabeat in concert
-Attend Bonnaroo for my 3rd year
-Paint something
-Cook something!!!!!!!!
-Turn 21 in Las Vegas
-Go Sky Diving
-Become healthy and active (No weight loss goal. Just these 2 things)
-Have a relationship
-Less procrastination
-Less cursing (both verbally and in writing)
-THINK POSITIVE!
-Don’t worry as much. Especially about people. Care for yourself. And maybe this sounds cocky, but after 20 years of putting yourself down for others to be happy, I believe it’s a reasonable resolution.
-Write the 2nd draft of my screenplay
-Write more in my journal
-Keep website updated
-Recycle
-Volunteer for something
-PLAY INSTRUMENTS MORE!!! (Piano or Guitar or both, just playplayplay)
-Be confident and happy
-Enroll in a class of sorts (dance, music, fitness)
-Explore more music
-Take care of my nails, hair, teeth, and skin
-Organize and clean my surroundings
I say that’s a good start. I read an interesting thing about new years resolution lists that said to make a list of the past year, and what you were proud and inspired of. It’s suppose to give you motivation…..
So. Why Not.

I say that’s a good list.
So I challenge you to make 2 lists yourself. 1 of resolutions for 2009 that are reasonable to achieve in 2009, and another for achievements in 2008 that you are proud of and can be motivated by.
School starts in a day. I haven’t been in Savannah since May. So it’s weird right now. I haven’t seen anyone. I have no idea what to expect. But I’m going to take chances, and I started off by cutting my hair off yesterday. A good, clean start. I want people to see a new spunk in me, and I want to have a new spunk in myself as well.
I’m finally learning that it’s okay to love yourself. So I’m working on that. As for now, I hear the shower calling my name and a room that is pretty awesomely decorated.
Have a good night, a good year, and a good yourself.
