It’s that time of year! ACADEMY AWARD TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve pretty much seen every big movie nominated (except for Ben Button, and The Wrestler) so I feel like my 2 cents might be worth something. Here are my predictions for tomorrow night:
Actor in a Leading Role:
Who Do I Want to Get It: Frank Langella “Frost/Nixon”
Who Should Get It: Frank Langella “Frost/Nixon” (Now, I do like Sean Penn, but IMO Mr. Langella did a VERY VERY nice job in this film)
Who Will Get It: Mickey Rourke “The Wrestler” (I haven’t seen this film, but I just have a feeling this is how it’s going to go down)
Actor in a Supporting Role:
(Can I just say how BRILLIANT everyone in this category is?!?!? I just want to say that Phillip Seymor Hoffman did a Brilliant Job in Doubt, with that said:)
Who Do I Want To Get It: It’s a Tie: Robert Downey Jr. “Tropic Thunder” (because he is amazing in this film) and Michael Shannon “Revolutionary Road”
Who Should Get It: Michael Shannon “Revolutionary Road” (So he is the least recognized in this category, and he is SO SO SO good in this film)
Who Will Get It: Heath Ledger “The Dark Knight” (I don’t think I need to explain why he will get it)
Actress in a Leading Role
(Such a TOUGHHHHH decision this year, except screw Angelina Jolie)
Who Do I Want To Get It: Kate Winslet “The Reader” (If you’ve talked to me, you know how I feel about this film)
Who Should Get It: Meryl Streep “Doubt” (I rather Kate win, but comparing performances in these films, Meryl did do a really really great job)
Who Will Get It: Anne Hathaway “Rachel Getting Married” (She’s the underdog. Plus people are convinced she can play a great character that you hate. I am convinced the reason she is so good at being a bitch is because it isn’t far from her true self. However I have not met her)
Actress In A Supporting Role
Who Do I Want to Get It: Penelope Cruz “Vicky Christina Barcelona”
Who Should Get It: Viola Davis “Doubt”
Who Will Get It: Viola Davis Doubt” (She’s the underdog. Plus she is really good, although she’s only in the film for 8 minutes I believe)
Directing:
Who Do I Want to Get It: The Reader (OMG OMG OMG, this film is BRILLIANT)
Who Should Get It: The Reader
Who Will Get It: Slumdog Millionaire
Best Picture
Who Do I Want to Get It: THE READER!!!!! (Dear lord, do you GET MY DRIFT HERE? This film is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!)
