2009 was a pretty good year, but i’m going to make sure 2010 is even better! so before i tell you my dreams for the new year, let’s look back at 2009.
things i said goodbye too in 2009
–my watch– it wasn’t because I didn’t need you, because I do. It was more for the sake of fashion…
–roommates– i’ve had some good ones, and some bad ones. but 2009 was time for me to finally take a stand and start wearing the pants in my own life. (and I love solo dance parties and walking around wearing whatever I want- whether its a prom dress with crazy make-up or nothing at all—and you better believe that I’ve done both of those)
–sabrina– i’ve never lost anyone close to me, and my good friend sabrina was the first. since i’ve known sabrina, she’s always struggled with being sick, and i’m glad she doesn’t have to do that anymore. am i sad? of course. but i am also so happy that for the rest of my life i can remember sabrina with only the fondest of thoughts.
–blue jeans– i think 2008 was really the start of it all, but since 2009 i’m not sure if i’ve worn blue jeans once. and you know what? i don’t miss them at all.
–required foundation courses– drawing, design, english. whatever. i finally got all the classes i was required to take over with. it’s freedom from here on out.
–negative thoughts– you know, it took me awhile, but i finally understand how to be optimistic about life and not stress as much.
–local radio– you suck, you’ve always sucked, and you will continue to suck.
–my ugly fake front tooth– thanks for making me self conscious for 10 years, but no more!!!
–capital letters– notice how i never write in capital letters? it’s because lower case is so pretty and soft and everything is equal.
things i said hello to in 2009
–sushi— i’ve been eating california rolls for about three years now, but 2009 is when I took the plunge and went outside my comfort zone with sushi, and man am I glad I did!!! baked sushi, crunchy sushi, sushi with plums and eels and raw things on top of it. i love it all (well most of it.)
(aren’t these cakes decorated as sushi adorable??)
–alcohol– i have not abused my privilege of being 21 at all. in fact i seldom use it any. but i am so glad that if i want a drink, then by darn i’ll have one!!!
–bars, shows, and clubs– i never ever had a fake id. i wanted something to look forward too, and now i finally do. i can get into any of these places, and do whatever i want.
–satellite radio-- probably one of the top ten best investments i’ve made in my entire life. seriously. satellite radio is the most amazing thing ever. 90’s on 9, 80’s on 8, first wave, xmu, cosmo radio, and bpm. where have you been all of my life?
–pretty teeth-- woooohooooo!!!! my teeth look nice for once. that’s saved me an extra photoshop step with all of my pictures! (i possibly just gained a year of my life back)
–wolfgang amadeus jinx mozart– my cat. he’s been crazy, sweet, and everything in between. but when it comes down to it, i’m glad i have company. i’m glad something is happy to see me when i come home, and purrs when i rub its belly, and plays with me.
–fleas– saying hello to amadeus also meant saying hello to fleas. and you know what 2010, i’m going to say goodbye to fleas once and for all!! (i have no idea how because i’ve tried EVERYTHING, but somehow, someway…)
–blogs-- i’ve been a blogger for about 8 years. but 2009 took it to a whole new level. o’m practically blogging everyday, reading blogs, being inspired by blogs…
–chicago– i can cross it off my list!!! chicago is such an awesome and amazing city. i am so in love with it. i’m going to live there one day, you wait and see.
what to expect, not expect, and hope for the best in 2010
–be healthier– i’m not saying loose weight (although that would be nice) but if i make dinner at home or go out and eat, i want to actually think about what i’m putting into my body.
–goodbye soda-- i still have the occasional cherry coke. but i want to say goodbye to soda for once and for all in 2010.
–hello new york city– a permanent move to new york city is in store. i’m excited, nervous, curious, everything.
–graduating college– this is a big one.
–practice baking– i want to make cakes and cupcakes and cookies and make them pretty and taste delicious.
–bridesmaid– i have a life list, filled with life goals, and i get to cross one off this year. i’m going to be a bridesmaid in erin’s wedding!!!!
–glass half full– instead of half empty. but i’m also okay with the middle too. i’ve always been a glass half empty kind of gal, and i’m done with that. 2009 helped a lot with optimistic living, but 2010 is going to send it through the roof.
–more dance parties-- whether by myself or with friends. there needs to be more dancing!!
–walking/bike riding-- this is something i would really like to do more of.
–screenplay-- a finished screenplay that i’m proud of. whatever the story may be, and however hard work i go through writing it, i want to be proud once its done.
–i love you– tell those i love them everyday. i try to do this already, but i want to keep it in mind all the time. i want to always remind those how much i love, appreciate, and am thankful for them.
well, i hope you have the most fun, sparkling, and dazzling new year!!! i’m all by myself in savvy, so unfortunately i will be sleeping when the clock strikes midnight, because i think the only thing more depressing than sleeping on new years, is not sleeping and being alone when it hits midnight. but hey, maybe that means 2010 will be filled with dreams!
