auntie mame

if i were to live inside the world of aunite mame, i’d be perfectly happy.  even if i were stuck inside of its opening kaleidoscope jeweled credits!  i’ve never heard of auntie mame until the past year, and then it was as if references were everywhere from inspiring the costume designer of mad men to becoming a basis for the hunger games character effie trinket to holiday party conversations.

every second of this film i was smiling from ear to ear.  from the wardrobe to rosalind russell’s body language, every frame is pure happiness.  and did i mention the clothes?!?!?!?!!?  they are to die for!

rosalind russell’s mame has easily entered my top 5 favourite characters of all time.  her motto is too “live, live, live!!!” while she suggests that “life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!” even at her worst times, mame still has happiness (and whatever is left) to give around and she’s proof that even in the bad times, if you believe good things will come your way, then they will!

i respect that mame chooses colours as bold as her personality.  she is fun and vibrant and her wardrobe completely compliments that, which isn’t that what wardrobes should do for all of us?  i also adore how mame changes her hair colour as quickly as she changes her hobbies and interests.

much to learn from here.  both on the inside and out. oh auntie mame!  highly recommended.

how i’ve lived so long and not seen how to steal a million, i’m not sure.  after a much needed day of rest, spent lazing in the bed and watching old flicks, i got around to this hepburn and o’toole classic!  possibly a new favourite.  i know audrey is always noted for her style, but i’ve never seen her wardrobe look so good as it does in this film- all pieces provided by givenchy.

solid colours, clean cuts, and tailored fits.  impeccable.  may we also mention this stunning black lace number with the mask and sparkled eye shadow??? oh my!!

not only is the wardrobe heavenly, but peter o’toole is such a dreamboat!  so charming!  i can’t get over how fun and playful this film is.  highly recommended!

ruby sparks

i can’t express to you how much happiness i receive when i watch a new trailer and get excited.  i feel like that feeling grows more faded as the years go on, but so far i have three films this year that i’m really looking forward too (ruby sparks as shown above, and the other two being looper and upside down.)

you can’t go wrong with paul dano, or the little miss sunshine team, or the fact that it’s a cutesy romantic comedy.  ummmmmm, yes please!

holiday

sometimes we need to drive away.  we need to turn off the computer, say goodbye to all we know, and soak in the sun with breaths of new intention.  it’s been quite some time since i’ve been on a holiday.  and well… tomorrow it’s time to begin a new, 10 day adventure across the united states.  (i know, 10 whole days without blog updates!!!  oh the pain!!!)  but did you know that i’m on twitter?  i kind of update all of the time… lots of photos, silly nonsense, and quotes that make you think differently.  (hint, you might see a little hollywood, golden gate, and mr. presidents house action.  oh yes, i’m doing it all.)

so thank you for being patient and i can’t wait to return with new experiences and stories and new, inspiring things to blog about!!!!!!

À bientôt

what a dreamy spring outfit.  it is my goal to wear a flower crown before the summer is up.  i apologize for my lack of blog post as of lately, i’ve seem to have found myself a gentleman friend and well, you know how those first few weeks are.  (oh yes, lots of butterflies and cheek blushing going on over here.)

but i’m sure to have some more goodies for you by the end of the week.  did i mention i’m going on holiday this weekend!?!?  (for a whole 10 days!!!!) more on that later!  i hope the beginning of your week is simply lovely.

all the best.
